From Steps To Sadhana: Harmonising Body, Mind, And Soul

I am M Sneha, born and raised in Hyderabad. After my father's demise, my mother became the sole breadwinner of our family. Despite facing great difficulties, she raised my sister and me with immense strength and determination. Amidst the financial struggles at home, an opportunity to join Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, Moosapet in Hyderabad came as a ray of hope for which I will always remain grateful.
At the age of 8, I joined this institution, where I was introduced to the divine art of dance along with academics. This marked the beginning of a transformative journey. What began as a spark of interest in dance soon blossomed into a profound passion, shaping my dreams and aspirations to pursue this lifelong calling.
After completing my 10th grade, I joined Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam, Kondapaka Campus for PUC, where I chose a combination of subjects, but my heart yearned to pursue dance. After completing my Pre-University, my heart yearned to study dance further. The University's decision to start a Bachelor's Programme in Performing Arts was a dream come true. The commencement of the Bachelor of Performing Arts program at our university made this dream a reality, and I chose to specialise in Bharatnatyam.
Though I had begun learning dance at 11, my understanding of it transformed after joining the course and relating it to the ancient Indian wisdom taught in our university. This broadened my vision and helped me connect dance with divinity.
I have been fortunate to learn from eminent scholars and legendary gurus like Dr Padma Subramanyam and Smt Revathi Ramachandran. I have had the privilege of learning under the guidance of eminent scholars and legendary gurus like Dr. Padma Subramanyam and Smt. Revathi Ramachandran, whose teachings deepened my understanding of the art. The training I received from these legendary artists gave me the understanding that dance is more than performance; it is a sadhana (spiritual practice) that harmonises body, mind, and soul.
These opportunities strengthened me as a seeker of the art and as an individual, enabling me to participate in competitions at zonal and national levels and bringing laurels to the institution.
Our revered founder, Sri Madhusudan Sai's mission of "One World One Family" has inspired me to contribute by pursuing my passion, sharing knowledge, and preserving the culture of dance and its essence.
