Meghana comes from the village of Dibburahalli in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka. Her father works as a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Bus Conductor, and her mother is a guest teacher. Her parents had to take on a lot of debt to educate Meghana and her younger brother. However, the financial burden to educate her was alleviated from the shoulders of her parents, after she joined the Sri Sathya Sai Prashantiniketanam Pre-University College at Nallakadirenahalli for Grade 11.
