At the village of Byakod in the Vijayapura district of Karnataka, child marriage is a common practice and education for girls is hardly pursued. However, Lakshmi’s parents, who were doing agriculture, encouraged her to study no matter what. Her parents worked hard to pay for her education until her Grade 10. Sri Sathya Sai Prashantiniketanam Pre-University College at Chikkaballapur came as a blessing into her life when she joined here for her Grade 11, and ever since she was assured of her higher studies at the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, and employment thereafter. An opportunity to pursue Vedic Studies hadn't occurred to her even in her dreams. Lakshmi is the first Undergraduate degree holder in her entire village.
