Towards a Future with Limitless Possibilities

I come from Godnal Village, situated 30 kilometers from Mundgod, a town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. My father worked tirelessly in Goa as a daily wage laborer and my brother sacrificed his studies to join my father in supporting our family.

I had completed my education until the 5th grade in Mundgod, but tragedy struck when my father, our family’s pillar, fell victim to a fatal accident. Call it a stroke of luck or divine intervention, a kind-hearted man visited our village and selected me and some more children for admission in a Gurukulam in Belur Village which was approximately 150 kilometers from my home.

Soon, I joined the Sattwaniketanam Campus. This heralded a new beginning for not just education, but also good food, accommodation and opportunities to pursue my interests in athletics and other extracurricular activities, at absolutely no cost. During the initial struggles of leaving my mother and village behind, the care and love from elders and fellow students made the Gurukulam feel like home.

As I continue the third year of my educational journey at the Gurukulam, I have developed this strong aspiration to become a doctor in the institution’s free-of-cost Medical College, to serve the rural unserved and underserved.
