The Timely Intervention

Sri Sathya Sai Meenakshiniketanam Gurukulam is a beacon of hope for many girls like me. Like many other girls in the campus, I also belong to a single-parent family. My mother is a daily wage worker, and is the sole breadwinner for the family. Due to financial burden, she couldn’t afford to send me to a good school. In Tirupur, where my mother was working as a laborer, most girls worked in the Banian industries. These girls were not treated well and they also developed lung disorders and other health issues. I came to know about this institution from other girls studying here from my village, Sirumalai. I joined the Gurukulam in 6th grade. Initially, I was not very keen to stay in the hostel, but my teachers and friends comforted me and now I feel at home here. If not for this institution, I too would have been one of the girls in the Banian industries. I am very grateful for the opportunity I have received. I am determined to make the best use of it for my personal development and for the betterment of the society.
